#272 Cocktail: Russian Squirrel

From the "squirrel" class created by Gaz Regan, comes the Russia squirrel which, of course has as base alcohol......vodka
Even if seems like an innocent drink, do not be fooled, it has 2 ounces of vodka and can do a little damage.

2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce creme de noyau
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice

#270 Cocktail: Scottish Squirrel

This cocktail is from the "squirrel" family created by Gaz Regan. The name, is of course from the base alcohol, which here is scotch.
The scotch goes really well with the nut flavor liqueurs, like Frangelico or Nocello, not only with the creme de Noyau.
I used here Frangeico, because I do not have Creme de Noyau, that is why the color is not the typical red.

1 1/2 ounce Scotch
3/4 ounce Creme de Noyaux
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice

#238 Cocktail: Pink Squirrel

Really simple and sweet cocktail, that's why it's not on the list of my favorite drinks. That doesn't mean it's not tasty.
Invented at Bryant's Cocktail Lounge in Milwaukee, WI. The Pink Squirrel was invented as an ice cream drink and is still served as an ice cream drink there and in many parts of the upper Midwest.

1 ounce white creme de cacao
1 ounce creme de noyau
1 ounce heavy cream

The drink was created by Gaz Regan on March 30, 2002 for a good friend of his, Brook Wilkinson when she wanted "something on the sweet side"

2 ounces Van Gogh Wild Apple vodka
3/4 ounce creme de noyau
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
club soda

#215 Cocktail: New Jersey Squirrel

One of the many cocktail, Gaz Regan created using the creme de noyau combining it with all the base spirits possible.
The drink is a little sweet for my taste, but that doesn't mean that it is not full of flavor. The combination of the applejack and the nutty taste of the creme de noyau is quite interesting

1 1/2 ounce applejack
3/4 ounce creme de noyau
3/4 ounce lemon juice

3/4 fresh lime juice

#210 Cocktail: Maryland Squirrel

The cocktail belongs to the series that Gaz Regan created started from the original pink squirrel cocktail and using different other liqueurs
Of course the name of the cocktail comes from the fact that the base alcohol is the rye whiskey and from history, we know that it was born in Maryland and Pennsylvania

1 1/2 ounce rye whiskey
3/4 ounce creme de noyau
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice

#174 Cocktail: Kentucky Squirrel

This enters in Gaz Regan's category of "squirrel drinks, meaning it is made using creme de noyau, and of course, by using bourbon, it can only be Kentucky.
There are not so many things that I can say about this drink, because it doesn't have a history or a special event for creating the cocktail. It is just Gaz Regan playing with liquors and creating new cocktails all the time.

1 1/2 ounce Bourbon
3/4 ounce creme de noyau
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice

#161 Cocktail: Irish Squirrel

This one goes in the "Squirrel" Sour category, started from the classic Pink Squirrel and, by changing the main ingredient (here the Irish whiskey) several cocktails were created.
No history for this one, just a plain tasty cocktail for all of you who enjoy the Irish whiskey

1 1/2 ounce Irish Whiskey
3/4 ounce creme de noyau
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice

#134 Cocktail: French Squirrel

The original Squirrel is the Pink Squirrel, but Gaz Regan chose to play with the ingredients so, from this, resulted a series of "squirrels".
I made in the past the Dutch, the British and now, as I am at letter F, here comes the French one.
Of course the French one has to be made with cognac. I think this one is the one that I prefer in this series. The Cognac and Frangelico (I used Frangelico because I still didn't find Creme de Noyau) go really good together. I really like the cognac with a little nutty flavor .
It's an elegant and tasty drink. Enjoy

2 ounces Cognac
1/2 ounce Creme de Noyau
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice

#112 Cocktail: Dutch Squirrel

Nothing spectacular at this cocktail. It belongs to the "Squirrel" category that Gaz Regan created by playing with the base drinks and adding the creme de noyau liqueur switching between the lime and lemon juice.
You may say that these drinks, the squirrels, belong to the sour cocktails, but as the rule says, you add some new ingredient, you create a new cocktail....in this case, a new category

2 ounces Van Gogh wild apple vodka
3/4 ounce creme de noyau
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice

#91 Cocktail: Caribbean Squirrel

The cocktail is just a twoist on the pink squirrel cocktail. It was made first by Gaz Reggan and, I guess that the name comes from the fact that the base liquor for this one is rum.
Unfortunatelly, creme de noyau is kindda hard to get here in Germany, so I am using a replacement, Frangellico, instead. That's why the cocktail doesn't have the red-ish color like is suppose to have. But is still taste really good. So if yoou have the possibility to find Creme de Noyau, than make it with that, otherwise, the alternative is not bad at all.

1 1/2 ounce Rum
3/4 ounce Creme de Noyau
3/4 fresh lemon juice

#59 Cocktail: British Squirrel

The Squirrels are a new type of drink, that are similar to the sours and which have in the recipes creme de noyau , a pink almond flavored liqueur
In 2002, Gaz Regan was asked by a friend to make a drink "on the sweeter side" and he combined vodka with creme de noyau and lemon juice. From then on, he started to substitute in some of the sour drinks, the triple sec with creme de noyau and so a new category was borne
The definition of the squirrel is a drink with a base spirit, lemon or lime juice and creme de noyau or any other nut-flavored liqueur
1 1/2 ounce gin
3/4 creme de noyau
3/2 lime juice
