#284 Cocktail: Toasted Almond

I know it looks like the White Russian, but it is not. Probably someone (I have no idea who) created it for the ones who do not enjoy White Russian.
It's quite tasty, but it's a little too sweet for me. It happens when you combine only two liqueurs. Easy way to make it and if you don't like vodka, this one is for you.

 1 1/2 ounce Amaretto
1 1/2 ounce Kahlua
1 ounce cream

#273 Cocktail: Stiletto

Adapted from a recipe by Al Romeo of Anthony's, Huston, Texas.
The recipe is really interesting for it incorporates the lime in a bourbon cocktail. There are not so many cocktails out there where this combination is used.
I can tell you that the whole recipe works really well and the drink is really delicious

2 ounces bourbon
1/2 ounce amaretto
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice

#166 Cocktail: Jockey Club No.2

The name of the cocktail comes from the largest commercial organisation in British horseracing.
It founded as one of the most exclusive high society social clubs in the United Kingdom, sharing some of the functions of a gentleman's club such as high-level socialising. It was called 'The Jockey Club' in reference to the late medieval word for 'horsemen', prounced 'yachey' and spelt 'Eachaidhe' in Gaelic.
The original 1930 recipe for this cocktail called for creme de noyau, but Gaz Regan replaced that with the amaretto and also dropped the orange bitters, leaving only the Angostura one, so in conclusion, this is a new recipe for the Jockey Club, therefore is called "No.2"

2 ounces Gin
3/4 ounce Amaretto
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
Angostura bitters to taste

#150 Cocktail: Glenkinchie Clincher

This cocktail was made by Gaz Regan who was hired by Glenkinchie to create a cocktail that should be served at a reception for Tony Bennett in London in 2000
This is a fairly typical lowland whisky in that it is fresh and light in character, with notes of lemon and cut grass. It has a sweet nose and a hint of peat.
Very smooth, with a silky texture, this cocktail can be served as an aperitif or after diner

2 ounces Glenkinchie single-malt scotch
1/2 ounce amaretto
1/2 ounce triple sec

#147 Cocktail: Godson

The "God-" cocktails is a series of drinks which combines a basic liquor (scotch, vodka) with amaretto and sometimes, cream is added to the combination.
I chose to make this, from the whole series of 4 cocktails, because in my opinion, this one is the most tasty of them all. When you take a sip from the drink, you feel the hardness of the scotch, but after that, you remain with the sweetness and the nice flavor of almonds  from the amaretto.
It's a brilliant cocktail and it really surprised me by being so tasty and full of flavor

2 ounces Scotch
1 ounce Amaretto
1 ounce Cream

#121 Cocktail: French Kiss

Maaan, it is like you taste heaven....in one shot.
This tiny drink has so much flavor and the combination of all 3 ingredients is so good that you think you died and you are in heaven....or you are having again your first french kiss.
There is no known inventor of this drink, but he is a genius, whoever he is.

1/2 ounce Frangelico
1/2 ounce Baileys
1/2 ounce amaretto

#118 Cocktail: Eve's Seduction Apple Martini

   Damn, this cocktail is good!
It has a slight flavor of almonds from the amaretto, the vodka is not overpowering the taste, the balance between sweet and sour is proper and with that champagne on top, makes this cocktail an elegant marvel.
Have no idea why it has this name, but I tend to think it is because the apple vodka used as a base liquor. The drink is adapted from a recipe by Matt Knepper from the Fifth Floor Bar, Hotel Palomar, San Francisco. So, if you are around, tell him to make you one of these. You won't regret it

1 1/2 ounce apple vodka
1/4 ounce amaretto
1/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/4 ounce fresh lime juice
1/4 ounce simple syrup
top with champagne

#105, #106 & #107 Cocktail: Delmarva No.1, No.2 and No.3

Today we will have three cocktails in one post. Why? You may ask. Because is basically 1 recipe with which, Gaz Reagan played by changing 1 component for each drink.
The original recipe is, as you might figure, Delmarva No.1 or only Delmarva and it was created by Ted Haigh, Dr. Cocktail, in Los Angeles and it contained rye whiskey, dry vermouth, creme de menthe and fresh lemon juice. Gary Regan, found out that is the perfect recipe to play with and changed, twice, the flavor component, replacing creme de menthe with creme de cacao and amaretto. Both variations of the Delmarva cocktail are delicious

Delmarva

2 ounces rye whiskey
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
1/2 ounce creme de menthe
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice

Delmarva No.2

2 ounces rye whiskey
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
1/2 ounce creme de cacao
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice

Delmarva No.3

2 ounces rye whiskey
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
1/2 ounce amaretto
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice

#77 Cocktail: Canteen Martini

This drink is included in the International Sours category, meaning that it needs to have liquor base and some lemon or lime and has to be swetened by a liqueur, another fruit juice or both.
The Canteen Martini was created by Joey Guerra, bartender at the Canteen restaurant in New York city. It doesn't have a long history and is not a classic, but is a tasty drink combining the Southern Comfort liqueur and the amaretto with a liquor not so strong as a base.

1 1/2 ounce white rum
1 1/2 ounce Southern Comfort
1/2 ounce amaretto
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice

#65 Cocktail: Bocce Ball

Bocci is a ball sport belonging to the boules sport family, closely related to bowls and pétanque, with a common ancestry from ancient games played in the Roman Empire. Developed into its present form in Italy (where it is called bocce, the plural of the Italian word boccia which means "bowl"), it is played around Europe and also in overseas areas that have received Italian migrants
As you can imagine, the name of this cocktail is after the ball that the game is played with. Why? I have no idea.
The Bocce Ball is great highball juice drink that is very simple to make and can be enjoyed for any occasion. It's similar to a Screwdriver, only a little more interesting thanks to the amaretto and soda. You may also want to try this with aflavored vodka, either a vanilla vodka, one of the citrus options, or even a cake or whipped cream vodka.
I would include the Bocce Ball on the list of drinks most bartenders will want to be aware of. Also, because of its relationship to the Screwdriver, it is an easy one to remember.
As with many cocktail recipes, there are a few ways to make a Bocce Ball. Many recipes skip the vodka and others leave out both the vodka and soda. Enjoy this drink however you like it.

#18 Cocktail: Amaretto Alexander

I have no idea who invented this. I haven't found a history for this cocktail, but is incredibly delicious. With a nutty flavor from the amaretto, the chocolate taste from the creme de cacao and the smoothness from the creme, this cocktail goes in the top 10 of my preferences

2 ounces Amaretto
1 1/2 ounce Creme de Cacao
1 ounce Creme

#16 Cocktail: Alabama Slammer

The legend has it that the Alabama Slammer was invented  at the University of Alabama in 1975, although further details about the origins of the cocktail are hazy. It is claimed to have been made famous by Green Bay Packers quarterback, Brett Favre. However, the drink was popular with the college crowds as early as the 1980s when it was served as a shaker shot in many bars and also available as a pitcher in T.G.I. Fridays and other chain restaurants

1 ounce Sloe Gin
1 ounce Southern Comfort
1 ounce amaretto
2 ounces fresh orange juice
