#277 Cocktail: Singapore Sling

The Singapore Sling is a gin-based cocktail from Singapore. This long drink was developed sometime before 1915 by Ngiam Tong Boon, a Hainanese bartender working at the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel, Singapore. It was initially called the gin sling – a sling was originally a North American drink composed of spirit and water, sweetened and flavored.
By the 1980s, the Singapore Sling was often little more than gin, bottled sweet and sour, and grenadine. With the move towards fresh juices and the re-emergence of quality products like Cherry Heering, the cocktail has begun to resemble its original version.

2 ounces Beefetaer Gin
3/4 ounce Cherry Heering
1/4 ounce Benedictine
1/2 ounce triple sec
2 ounces pineapple juice
3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
Angostura bitters to taste
club soda

#251 Cocktail: Remember the Maine

A classic cocktail adapted from a recipe but Charles H Baker Jr., which insisted that, when making the drink, you should only stir clockwise.
Charles H Baker Jr, an American journalist who counted Ernest Hemingway and Errol Flynn among his many friends, wrote for magazines such as Gourmet, Esquire and Town and Country, and was described by Margaria Fichtner, a columnist for the Miami Herald, as having an ‘unquenchable enthusiasm for what he called “the gentle art of imbibation”’.
Baker writes in his 1939 book, The Gentleman's Companion: An Exotic Drinking Book.

#87 Cocktail: Cherry Blossom

Perhaps that there is not a better time to make this cocktail than in the spring, when the cherry flowers appear. I am lucky that I am at letter C and I have the possibility to make this wonderful drink.
The drink is a new orleans sour which means that should contain a liquor base, a sweet liqueur, lemon juice and either triple sec or orange curacao
This is adapted from Harry Craddock's 1930 recipe and is nothing more than a variation on the Sidecar, using the cherry brandy as the extra ingredient

1 ounce brandy
1 ounce cherry brandy
1/2 ounce triple sec
1/2 ounce lemon juice

#42 Cocktail: Burnet

The cocktail was created by Gary Regan in 2001 for the Glenmorangie whiskey company. The recipe used here is the simple manhattan recipe to use 2 parts whiskey and 1 part sweet vermouth. Here, Gaz Regan makes a twist of that recipe by using Cherrry Heering due to the fact that this scotch is more delicate than the other types.
So it is imperative that, before making a cocktail, you must taste the base drink first to see what other drink you can use so that all the flavors will play a friendly game.

2 1/2 ounces Glenmorangie single-malt scotch
1/2 ounce Cherry Heering

#28 Cocktail: Blood and Sand

In 1922 Rudolph Valentino starred in the movie “Blood and Sand”, a movie that shortly before his death in 1926 he declared as the part he liked the best. He had just undergone a touchy surgery for appendicitis and gastric ulcers and told the gathering press “The part I like best was my role in ‘Blood and Sand’. If I had died, I would have liked to be remembered as an actor by that role – I think it my greatest.” He died a few days later from peritonitis. It is unknown who actually created the recipe for Blood and Sand, but its first appearance seems to be in “The Savoy Cocktail Book” by Harry Cradock in 1930.

3/4 ounce scotch
3/4 sweet vermouth
3/4 cherry brandy
3/4 fresh orange juice
